Title: Simple and brilliant
Review: Okay. So, this thing doesn’t look like much mostly because, well, there’s not much to it. It’s a laser projector that is housed in a dodecahedron- that’s the same shape as a large 12-sided die for you gamers that remember your D&D days as a kid- with one side as the projector. The mirrors and such inside of it allow it to project in a slightly off-center oval path that randomly moves, pauses and reverses direction on a 30 minute timer with a variable speed that you can choose by depressing the single button 1 to 4 times (slow, medium, fast, unmoving). If this all sounds pretty simple and basic? Well, that’s because it is. To be honest, in my opinion the brilliance of this little device is actually in the Why-In-The-Hell-Didn’t-Anyone-Think-Of-This-Sooner? catagory than anything else and here’s why:It projects in one direction only:The reason why this was a smart move on the part of the inventor is that this means several things-1) The device sits farther away from the play area- no more kitty getting upset because he knocked over the projector during a particularly excited moment of chasing his quarry.2) Variable play area – You can move the projector further up or back to change the size of the play area in question. Get it high up enough and you can get the entire floor if you want to get your overly energetic kitty getting a real workout if they’re *really* into chasing the light.Off-Center Oval + Dodecahedron housing + Random movement:Even though it’s just on a circular/oval projection path that varies it’s speed and direction at random moments just like all of these laser things do, when you put that together with the housing and the fact that it’s off-center, this means that the variety is extraordinarily high.It is. I have been placing this thing all around the house for awhile now and making adjustments- this side down, now that side down, a little up, a little to the left, a little down, etc- and I have learned that this allows me to create all manner of patterns and locations for my high energy Baby Boy to play with.As anyone who has ever had a high energy and (sometimes annoyingly) smart kitty can attest- the more variety you can get out of a toy, the longer it’ll take for them to get bored which equals the longer it is before you have to get a new one. ;)So, yeah, this is a *GREAT* little toy for our feline friends! Now, to the caveats, one concerning kitties and one for the owners:About the kitties- As usual, it really is the animal who decides whether or not they like the toy in question. Some don’t like lasers, others may not be all that into chasing anything (our Baby Girl is in that catagory). So, ultimately, whether or not this toy is a hit with your particular furry friend and/or how they decide that they want to play with it is up to- well, your particular furry friend. lol.For the owners: In the first couple of uses, I thought that the fastest speed on the projector was a little on the slow side to be interesting to my Baby Boy. I note this because I am sure that others have and probably will think the same thing at first. That being said, a little more toying around with the locations, direction, speed, etc of this thing has taught me that- NO IT ISN’T TOO SLOW AT ALL!See, as my brain finally kicked in while I was tinkering with it, I remembered that since it IS a projection of a laser light, like all projections- the speed increases when the projection gets farther away from the source. To put this simply: the farther away you put the projector from the area you’re aiming the laser light at, the area that the laser light’s path covers gets bigger, so, the faster that laser light is going to move.Through trial and error with various lasers both manual and non during play time over the years, I have learned that if the laser goes *too* fast, my kitties just doesn’t want to chase it. Which makes sense to me at least beause, why bother if you stand absolutely no chance? In my experience, this is equally true for kitties as it is for humans. So, I would suggest to the humans that before deciding that the fastest speed is just too slow, try covering a larger area by moving it back.Anyway, those are my conclusions on this little toy and, I honestly hope that there might be something in there that helps someone decide whether or not to give it a try for their little furry fuzz-balls and/or hopefully some tips and tricks with it if they *do* decided to hit that “Buy” button.

Title: It never gets old for my cats, they love it so much we bought a second!
Review: My cats love this product! I turn it on at least once everyday and the cats enjoy it every time. It has multiple speed functions and can be put on non-movement mode so you can use it like a traditional laser pointer pen. It has worked so well we decided to purchase a second so one each cat can play in their own space with their own red dot. Worth every penny for my cats!

Title: Almost perfect
Review: If this thing had a rechargeable battery, it would be perfect. My cats love it and it’s been knocked onto the floor so many times a lesser product would have died long ago. Not this one. It just keeps going until it’s time to replace the batteries. In this day and age, it’s practically expected to have a built-in, lithium-ion battery that’s USB rechargeable, which would have made this perfect.

Title: Not perfect but the best out of three brands tried
Review: We have an 11 year old cat with average intelligence and a 6 month old kitten who is extremely intelligent. Both of our cats moderately enjoy this toy. This is one of three different brands we have tried. We sent one brand back because it was too slow and boring. We sent another brand back because it was defective and wouldnât turn on. This was the best of the three. You can set this laser toy up to shoot against the wall or place it up high to shoot the laser on the floor. We set it up in a position where it hits both the low wall and a little bit of the floor. However, because of the odd shape of the machine we canât just set it on itâs base for it to function. We have to prop it on itâs side awkwardly using other items in order for it to aim properly. This quickly became a huge pain as it almost always falls down from that position. This has become a pain and so we are returning this item. It has four settings – slow, fast, advanced, and manual. Slow is too boring for my cats. Advanced is most liked what a human might do manually in that it changes directions and speeds. However, nothing gets our cats going the way we can when we move the laser around manually. To us it is irritating that there arenât laser cat toys that are more challenging. Even the pattern on the advanced setting can seem predictable. Whoever creates these obviously doesnât own intelligent cats. If they did the program would have the laser zip around more quickly and sporadically making it more exciting to the cats. Sometimes my cats chase the lasers and have fun but sometimes they just lay there and watch it. We were hoping for more of a challenge to entertain our super intelligent kitten in the morning when weâre still sleeping but he wants to play. This is the best option we have found thus far in the laser toy options but it still definitely has some room for improvement.

Title: glorified handheld (manual) laser
Review: Not sure if it is the automatic shut off time frame, if there is one, but the batteries die so quick with this one. We may be got 3 uses of the fast setting before the laser went so dim the cats don’t notice it anymore. The slow setting, and boy is it slow, still has a decent brightness and the non movement setting seems fine. So get this one if you want to burn through batteries or want to have a handheld manual laser pointer that has a funny shape. There are much better options out there…

Title: My cat is fickle and lazy, still likes it sometimes.
Review: Try this if you are not sure your cat will be interested. It is cheap but good.We have a cat who is easily bored and never stays interested in toys long. Every time I buy things he either isn’t interested or he only is for a short time. He might paw at a toy once every 6 months and then leave it again. So, I knew this was a gamble but I still shopped carefully before deciding on one and this one seemed the safest of the cheaper options. in fact, the more expensive ones seemed to have more problems and complaints.Well, as I suspected he didn’t care about this for a couple months. But yesterday he was in the mood and I turned it on after he was riled up, and he loved it, chasing it around for 10 minutes before losing interest.Because of this I think it is safe to say it is a great laser toy, though it can’t cure a general lack of interest in lasers.
